Last night, I spent a half hour getting my butt handed to me playing the Battlefield 3 Open Beta. Let me tell you it was absolutely fantastic! This game is a marvel. Now, I certainly can’t tell you everything by only playing in two missions, but what I can tell you is that Battlefield 3 – Limited Edition is the most beautiful video game I have ever seen. Maybe, beautiful isn’t the right word. I’m am discussing a war zone with torn up streets and people shooting at you.
I was standing in front of this huge hole in the ground, as I was looking around and it dawned on me that depending on where I stood, the sun looked different. Not just different, but realistic.
The Beta is opened from now (actually started September 29) until Monday, October 10th. I had already pre-ordered my copy of Battlefield 3, but playing just the Metro map on rush has convinced me that I did the right thing. I can’t wait for October 25th to play the full version.
The horror of it all! I went to play Bad Company 2 over the weekend and the game wouldn’t work. I don’t know what went wrong, but somehow the disk was cracked. I take very good care of my disks, so this had to be sabotage! No, I’m kidding. I’m sure it was an accident. It might’ve happened when I tried to take it out of the case.
Anyway, I went to Best Buy on Saturday, used what was left on my gift card and purchased Battlefield Bad Company 2 Ultimate Edition. I am really glad that I did. The Ultimate Edition comes with a code for Battlefield 1943, which is a game I’ve never played. I can tell you this – I suck at it. I’m not scoring very high and I haven’t managed to earn one trophy. However; my lack of skill does not diminish my enjoyment. I am finding that the scope in 1943 is not as efficent and good as the scope in Bad Company 2. I’m having a very difficult time shooting people at any distance. I’ve, also, noticed that it will take three or more shots to take out an opponent while using a rifle, but it only takes an opponent one or two shots to take out me. But, it might be me.
Also, the Ultimate Edition includes the Onslaught Mode for Bad Company 2. If you have not all ready downloaded this version of multi-player, I highly recommend it. This is more challenging and you have to work as a team in your squad in order to win. You play against the computer AI, but still, it is challenging. I’ve been playing on Normal and I’m about ready to try my hand at Hard.
